Extension Activity:House hold survey at UBA adopted village- Mookkannoor, Kochi

    Unnath Bharat Abiyan(UBA) is a flagship programme of Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) that aims to enrich rural India. The mission of UBA is to enable higher educational institutions to work with the people of rural India in identifying development challenges and evolving appropriate solutions for accelerating sustainable growth. The adopted village is Mookkannoor.

On 12th July 2019, 5 students of Department of Business Administration and 6 students of BSc. Computer Science Department along with 7 teachers embarked on a journey to take household surveys in the Mookkannoor village of Angamaly block in Kochi as part of UBA programme. The students along with the teacher coordinators went on and carried out surveys from house to house identifying the different central schemes received by the village residents and their grievances regarding the current situation of the village. It was an enriching experience for the students and faculties. The data collected during the house hold survey was uploaded in the official site of UBA.

Extension Activity: Career Guidance Session

As part of the MOU signed with Mookkannoor Panchayath, a session on Career Guidance was taken by Dr. Joseph Job Faculty, Department of Business Administration, St. Paul’s College Kalamassery. The Plus two students of Govt. Higher Secondary School Mookkannoor participated in the session.

Extension Activity: Visit To Capernaum Charitable Trust

Date : 26th July 2019

60 students and 4 teachers of BBA department along with Associate Manager Rev Fr. Joseph Palliparambil and Vice Principal Jose Xavier visited Capernaum Charitable Trust, Pachalam on 26th July 2019.Lunch for the members of the home was arranged by faculties and students of the Department. Several entertainment programs like songs, dance, games etc were arranged for the inmates in which the children actively took part. It was a memorable day for all the students and teachers.

Idea Pitching Assignment

Date: 17.02.2020

   A second phase for idea pitching assignment was conducted on 17th Feb 2020. This assignment was for the students of Department of Business Administration. Students were asked to bring up some innovative business ideas for starting their own venture.

Students were asked to think out of the box and many innovative ideas were generated. It helped the students in boosting their creative thinking.

Seminar on Design Thinking and Idea Pitching

   Students were introduced to the concept of idea pitching assignments on 30th Jan 2020, through design thinking workshop. The resource person for the workshop was Dr Shiny CM, Assistant Professor, Albertian Institute of Management. Students from various department were grouped together and was asked to come up with a social or business problem and solutions for it. Each group came up with different problems and unique solutions to it.

Students were able to identify the different social and business problems existing in the society and was able to suggest some effective methods to solve these problems with their own unique solutions.

Seminar on Developing Entrepreneurial Minds

   Seminar on Developing Entrepreneurial Minds was conducted by Department of Business Administration, St. Paul’s College Kalamassery on Jan 30th 2020. The resource persons for the Seminar were Dr Geo Jos Fernandez, Dean, Albertian Institute of Management and Dr Shiny CM, IEDC Coordinator, St. Alberts College Ernakulam.

   Faculty and students of Department of Business Administration attended this session which highlighted the role of developing their ideas and thoughts to enable their entrepreneurial minds.

Knowledge of Basic Tips for Interview and Group Discussion Process is of great importance as it helps the students to confidently appear for the corporate interviews and group discussions, which is waiting for them, once they completes their academics.

   A talk on hygiene awareness for girls was conducted at St. Paul’s College, Kalamassery by Ms. Reshma Mariam Mohan Department of Business Administration on Dec 9th 2019 at BBA 3rd year classroom. The talk was organized by Department of Business Administration.

The talk highlighted on the importance of hygiene awareness and how to lead a happy and healthy life.

National Workshop on Research Methods and Data Analysis using SPSS

   A two-day National Workshop on Research Methods and Data Analysis using SPSS-Concepts and Connections was jointly organized by Internal Quality Assurance Cell Post Graduate Department of Commerce and Department of Business Administration at St. Paul’s College, Kalamassery on 28-29 November 2019.The resource person was Dr. Rajesh P. Assistant Professor, Government Engineering College, Thrissur. Participants included Academicians, Research Scholars and various Post Graduate students from various institutions.

 The aim of the workshop was to get participants acquainted with practical approach to be followed in research process. The participants got a thorough knowledge about the various stages of research starting from research objective formulation to analysis using SPSS.

Seminar on Career Success and Mentoring

   Seminar on Career Success and Mentoring was conducted by Department of Business Administration, St. Paul’s College Kalamassery on September 30 2019. The resource person for the Seminar was Fr. Vimal Francis, General Manager St. John’s National Academy of Health and Science, Bangalore. Faculty and students of Department of Business Administration attended this session which highlighted the role of effective mentoring for career success.

The talk highlighted on the importance of mentoring in the career development of every student. It gave some tips on how to mentor the students effectively. It also gave some tips on how to achieve the career goals.

Seminar on Afforestation – The need of the Present Century

   Seminar on Afforestation – The need of the Present Century was conducted at St. Paul’s College, Kalamassery by Dr Joseph Job Chakkalakal, Department of Business Administration on Sep 26th 2019 at BBA 3rd year classroom. The talk was organized by Department of Business Administration.

The talk highlighted on the importance of afforestation. It also conveyed that, in the present century, planting trees is the solution to environmental pollution and damage.

Workshop on Academic Research Paper Writing

   Workshop on Academic Research Paper writing was jointly organized by Department of Business Administration and Department of Computer Science on September 17th 2019 at 2.30 pm at St. Paul’s College. The resource person was Dr. Asha Thomas IQAC Coordinator and Associate Professor P.G Department of Commerce St. Paul’s College, Kalamassery. The session was inaugurated by Associate Manager Rev.Fr Joseph Antony Palliparambil and was attended by faculties from various departments and P.G students. The workshop concluded by participants asking queries to the Resource Person and vote of thanks was expressed by Faculty Ms. Reshma Mariam Mohan Department of Business Administration.

  The workshop was conducted to give the students an idea on how to write a research paper. The workshop helped the students on how to brainstorm their ideas to conduct a research. It also gave some tips that can be followed while writing a research paper.

A Talk on Relevance of Organic Farming

Extension Activities:Visit To House Of Providence

Date : 20th December 2018

The Students and faculties of Department of Business Administration visited House of Providence, Kacheripady on 20th December 2018. Various programs were arranged with related to Christmas for the elders. Students organized entertainment programs for the inmates and also spent quality time with the members of the home. A small contribution from the students’ side was made to the home.

The seminar focused on the relevance of Gender Equality in Education. In the present scenario, the importance of educating both the girls and boys is a must. Importance of education in a person’s life was described through the seminar.
